A tragic incident unfolded in Patna on the concluding day of Chaiti Chhath, where six boys were swept away by strong currents in the Ganga River at Damrahi Ghat. Two boys have been confirmed dead, three were rescued, and one remains missing, triggering a large-scale search operation.
The incident occurred in the Malsalami area when the group entered the river to bathe after offering the second arghya. According to information, the boys suddenly lost control in the strong current and began drowning. Local residents rushed to the spot and managed to rescue three of them, while the remaining three were swept away.
Rescue teams, including divers and SDRF personnel, recovered the bodies of two boys, identified as Ganesh Kumar (18) and Rohit Kumar (17), both residents of the Kankarbagh area. The third missing boy, identified as Shibu Kumar (17), is still being searched for as authorities continue operations in the river.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, while grief has engulfed the locality, with families of the victims in deep shock. The incident has once again highlighted the risks associated with entering rivers during festive gatherings, especially amid strong currents.
